Speed the Plow

March 18th, 2007
Geffen Playhouse, Westwood
play by David Mamet
We went with Troy

One of Mamet's shorter plays, but nonetheless packed with crisp hilarity and masterfully crafted dialogue. Speed the Plow (as in "God Speed the Plow") means a hope for prosperity and success. This play is about the inner personal turmoil of the Hollywood movie-making process, involving two high-stakes players (Jon Tenney & Greg Germann) in the "green-lighting" department. Now throw a seemingly innocent temp-secretary into the mix (Alicia Silverstone), and watch the unraveling.

We love Mamet, and enjoyed another superbly directed play by Randall Arney. He's fast becoming our favorite director in SoCal.
