Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

June 22, 2006
Pantages Theatre, Hollywood
Musical, went with Troy & Rachel

I love this musical. Just because it's fun. Tim Rice's lyrics are witty and tongue-in-cheek, and Webber's melodies are bouncy and engaging. I've seen 4 professional productions, on and off Broadway, and although this National Tour was a bit weak in places, I still love the glamour and energy and entertainment value.
But hands down, Amy Adams (American Idol alum) is the reason to see this tour. She's in her element, her voice is in top form, and she was an absolute joy to listen to, her voice sweet and polished one moment, and belty and full of color the next. No overdone American-Idol embellishments here... just a singer who knows what she's doing. Loved it. The extra half star is for her, and for the entertainment value.

When my husband's neice was in high school, she was an extra in the dance and chorus for the production of Dreamcoat in Chicago. I didn't get to see it, but I heard it was fantastic. I don't remember Amy Adams. Was she on the first season of Idol?

Welcome, Shephard, and I hope you will visit again soon!

That is one of my favorite musicals, too - good to see these Idols making good! Thanks for stopping by the other day.
