Dead End
Aug 30th, 2005
The Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles
Play, went with Troy
For starters, fantastic 4-story set, mimicking two or 3 brownstone buildings in New York City, replete with the East River (they filled in the orchestra pitt with 10,000 gallons of water!). Plot: NYC residents struggle to live and survive amidst disease and lack of social welfare and programs that help the poor. The origin of "The Dead End Kids."
The sets, cast and costumes, as well as its historical relevance, was better than the actual play itself. The actors who played the kids were surprisingly natural, and we got a kick out of watching them splash the front row. And Jeremy Sisto was wonderful yet again.
