Reprise! Broadway's Best
UCLA's Freud Theatre
Musical
This production did not disappoint, and kept its 1970's feeling in a tongue-in-cheek way. Everything about this staging worked.
Standouts: Mimi Hines -the Queen, she was amazing, and Conrad John Schuck as the King was very appealing, as was Jean Louisa Kelly yet again, and Luba Mason. But Michael Arden (of BARE fame), fresh off doing this in NYC for a benefit, was truly the soul of the show as Pippin (as he should be). He was amazing. Fantastic voice. A matured and charming Sam Harris (a fantastic showman) played the delightful "Leading Player" role (Ben Vereen's role). This production was very well cast. I'd never seen this production on stage, and I am so happy that this was my first production of it. Strong, vibrant performances, very entertaining.
